Day 4 - Nipigon, Ontario

Yesterday we drove from Wawa to Nipigon and stayed at the Stillwater Tent and Trailer Park. We probably could have looked around for a better campground but driving around towing a 26 foot trailer is not really something we’re into. We generally look for a place with all hookups that doesn’t look sketchy and stop there.

We had a great dinner of pasta and salad and enjoyed a smokey fire while listening to Jeff Foxworthy on some American country station.

Yesterday was sunny but windy. Today is sunny and warm. We’ve been really lucky with the rain. We’ve been able to set up camp and cook and eat our food without getting rained on so we can be really thankful for that.

Both kids have caught colds but they’re trying to carry on like nothing is wrong. They both got filthy dirty playing with their new sandbox toys from their Aunt Diana and Uncle Pete. Lorne has eaten a good bit of dirt on this trip so his immune system ought to be able to handle quite a bit by the time we’re done.

Sofie’s Grandpa Mike went to take her for an ice cream cone but had to come back to the trailer to get her face washed because she looked like Joe Dirt. Then she walked through the trailer park calling herself Joe Dirt (I probably shouldn’t have called her that). We figure we’re probably the rowdy bunch at each stop but that’s okay. Our kids don’t seem to come equipped with a volume button. Just on or off.

I’m going to be adding more pictures once we get better internet connections so make sure you check earlier blog posts because I’m going to go back and add pictures according to each stop we make.

I’m going to also dedicate a separate blog post for the scenery on the highway from the Sault to Thunder Bay because it’s just too good not to. Obviously pictures through a windshield aren’t going to do it the justice it deserves but you’ll get a good idea of what a great Province Ontario is. The amount of trees we’ve seen is absolutely staggering. Seriously. I’ve made this drive many, many times and you forget just how astounding it is.

We’re headed towards Ignace today and we hope to stay there tonight.
